Default Clutch handle trouble

ok so i'm new to this whole motorcycle thing. only been riding 3 months and this is my first bike. 1993 zx7r. problem i'm having is sometimes the clutch handle sticks and if i touch it just a little bit it will click into gear. i don't believe it to be a clutch problem. i'm guessing its just in the handle. suggestions? i don't even know where to start!

first suggestion is a shop manual for it. check your cable adjustment and lube or master cylndar oil level if hydraulic. welcome to KF

+1 Lube the cable and invest in a manual. With an older bike it will save you more headaches than you can imagine.

This ride uses a hydraulic clutch. Check fluid levels, or a sticking slave or master cylinder. A good flushing and good oil replacement is recommended. Good luck

Came across this while reading yesterday.. not sure it can help you out or not. Sounds similar to your problem though:

Clutch back torque limiter springs: These can be a weak point (and should be checked fairly regularly A.M.). They can break into many pieces hopefully staying within the clutch basket and if one of the pieces lands right, you may not be able to disengage the clutch. If this happens on the road you may be stranded.
Try engaging and disengaging the clutch to dislodge the broken piece and get home ASAP!

Good info runovryou, I did not think that it was a big issue until I read that link.
