Default 88 750r Questions

I know a few of you out there have or had a 750R, like my 88. Question I have is have any of you messed with changing the chain/sprocket setup? I was curious because I'd like to make it a little more spunky to wheelie. I'm not concerned with top speed since I'll never really rap it up like that other than maybe an occasional run down the drag strip for fun when I'm bored with the mustang or not tuning my brother in law's TA.(which probably won't be much, he keeps me busy!)

I liked my 88 with the stock gearing. That was my 17k mile a yr ride. I do not have it anymore, but all rides are the same on sprocket changes. I am still a fan on bumping up +2 on the rear to start.

Any idea where to get a 2+ and chain? Good quality also.

at the time, had really good luck with sprocket specialties and tsubaki chains. For the 10r I am trying this one and D.I.D. http://www.supersproxusa.com/

Didn't see anything listed for the older 750R, bummer. I think that's the only downfall to this bike is finding performance and cosmetic parts for it. Time for a new one! LOL

They should have it. It is only a 530, I would contact them if interested.

The list a zx750, no year though, 520 conversion. Could you explain the 520/530 designation for me? Sorry, still learning.

A 520 is just a size and pitch that is smaller than the 530. Less weight but will wear out faster on a powerful ride. I still have the 530 on the 7, lasts a yr of racing with no issues. I am trying out the 520 on the 10r to check it out.

+1
alot of ppl go from 530 to 520 because of a weight difference as well.. theres a defined pitch and with difference, and the chain is usually good for high revs and less unsprung weight.

dropping down 1 on the drive sproket is the equivalent of going up 3 in the back, as well..

just due to the ratio between the physical sizes of the sprockets.. the driver (rear) is usally 3 times larger (from the factory) than the drive (front) sprocket. thus the 3 tooth rule.

So if I change to a 520 would you recommed changing the front also? Just to match either the ratio or just to match newness/company?
