Zx6r Running Hot
Hi Guys have a issue with my 2007 zx6r ninja last night the temp gauge started to get high it was running at 100-104C weather was warm but not really hot i had done 10 miles till this happened fan kicked in at 115C and cooled down to about 95C, used the bike this morning and only got to 82C as cold morning has anyone got a any idea what this can be as dont think its a normal thing

Randomly browsing and saw this thread, only signed up to post on here since everyone is tight lipped. Inline four engines run very hot by nature, R6 and ZX6R are two specific bikes out of the 600 class that love to run a little hotter and excel at such temperatures. 100-109C for the ZX6R is practically nothing. What the issue here is - is the fan is kicking in way too late and should kick in at the 100-101c mark. But at the same time the fan and radiator working as intended, as it brought down the temperature to 95c.
Fix that issue and have a mechanic fix when the fan starts working unless it was a once off.

hi thanks for the info iv recently changed the coolant as dont think there was any in it apart from rusty water so iv flushed it out 3 times and refilled with coolant the bike seem to run cooler but still got hot once it was on idle fan did kick in but at 115C and cooled down to under the point where the temp gauge was flashing high any idea why my fan kicks in so high up could it be a fautly temp sensor?

in the mean time iv put a manual fan switch in so i can switch fan on if temp starts to rise but now once i turn fan on manually this makes temp jump up to 8C more straight away then once switched of go's down 8 c down

This is an older thread, but worth a bump
239 degrees F is pretty warm. Pressure test your system. A hose or a cap issue most likely but I have also seen an impeller of the pump fail/disintegrate. Not often though. None of my kawasaki's run that hot.
My KHI race ecu on the 10r does not run the fan as an example in which I have to manually turn it on. Stock ECU?

My 2007 ZX6R fans kick in at 98c dead on and never above
