What are you running for motor oil ?
I am sure that this has been asked before, but I cannot find any old posts.
After hitting 500 miles, I decided to switch to Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 Full Synthetic. I plan on running this for the life of the bike and changing it and the oil filter every 2000 miles. Living in Northern New England I only get to put on about 6000 miles a year. So the $9 per quart isn't too bad. They say that it is specifically designed for wet clutch designs like ours.

So what are you guys using in your bike ?

I have Mobil1 5W40 in mine right now with less than 5K miles and I just put Valvoline Full Synthetic 5W40 in jdperez's 06 636. Either brand is great. It's hard to found 10W40 Mobil1 or the Valvoline SynPower. I had to run around all over the place and all I could get was the 5W40. Oil filter P.N. is Fram PH6017 from Walmart for $3.
The 06 636 (jdperez's) had complaints of not engaging gears fully and running a little hot on hot days. I switched the oil, cleaned, adjusted & lubed the chain and the shift lever. jdperez called me and told me that his bike has never felt this good and smooth shifting gears. I also did the ECU Jumper Mod on his and it was a noticeable difference in the top end. I was doing an indicated 150 MPH and that was in 5th gear! WOW!
"DIY" Pictures to follow soon of all the work I did on his bike.

Nice speed....looking forward to the DIY...
Yup, mobil 1 full syn here also. 15w50 in mine tho... 120 degree summer heat kills 5w40 or 10w40 around here.

BigRig, that's too thick for Bikes. You're probably losing power and fuel mileage with oil that thick. I am in the DFW area and I run 5W40. With Synthetic oils, that temperature is no problem. Also our bikes have a lot tighter tolerances and the 15W50 is made for worn out cars and big trucks.
True, I hafta agree with you. But my bike is getting up there in age and miles, almost 40,000 now. And I tried the thinner oil, but she performs so much better, and is quiter with the thicker oil in there. My old baby is just getting wore out a little.[:@] ....Maybe a new ZX14 is in my future, and she will def get the right oil in her..I appreciate the look out man.
I Rock Kawasaki's full syn. Its green. Kinda odd...Hopeing maybe it will change colors when bad so ill know when and how long it's green coloring lasts. Maybe its sooner then 2000 miles.

Are you going to keep the 636 or trade it in for the ZX14 Rocket launcher?
