Tire Question
Your steering/ handling may slow down a little but you can fix that by raising your fork tubes 5-10 mm. Also depends on some tire manufactures profiles. You may even notice improvements in handling. Install the tire first and see if you like it or not, then make the changes. Better to go with the 120/70-17 because you can always adjust the forks. With the 60 series, you can'tlowerthem too much.
Depending on your style of riding of course, track, road and suspension that you have. You could stay with the 60 which would put more rake in geometry. A 70 would feel more stable with the forks where they are at with a noticably increased effort in turn in if you like corners that is. So +1 to the ^
He's got an 04. That thing's twitchy as it is and could use a little more stability. Also the 70 series had a slightly larger contact patch. I would go with either the Pilot Powers or the Dunlop Qualifiers. The Q's are cheaper.

if you ride twisties, get the pp's if not, no sence in putting a tire designed for cornering on a bike thats not going to be cornering. check around e bay and such, i got a new and i mean new set of stock tires for 40 bucks front and back. saved my pp's for what they are meant for
