Default Tire

I did a quick search on tires in the forum and can't find what i am looking for. I don't really understand a lot about the tire sizing but was wondering if anyone can help me with a quick question. What is the biggest tire I can put on my rear wheel? I have a 2005 ZX-6R and I like the big fat back tires but am not sure what fits. Also are there any downsides for someone that just tools around town and back and forth to work? Thanks!

well our bikes come stock with a 180, litre bikes generally come with a 190, and moto gp runs a 200. Most guys I ride with on litre bikes switch to a 180 so they can turn into corners quicker. I haven't known of anyone going the opposite way, as far as effects someone else can probably better explain than myself. If you go with a 190 or 200, your bike will feel like it wants to "stand up" more as opposed to know when they want to naturally dive into corners...

I have a New 180/55-17 Bridgestone BT058R that's a 1/2 inch fatter than the stock BT014 & 3/4 inch fatter than a 180 Michelin power race. It's probably the same size as a 190. It's fat! It's your for $100 plus shipping if you want it. Let me know.

Yeah, a 190 is the widest you want to put on a 5.5 inch wide wheel. It will slow your handling down. If you don't care and just want the PHAT look, then I guess it's OK.

I would prolly stick with a 180 series on a 5.5" rim.
