Default Stupid Tire Question

I just got my new Battlax BT-016 (front) mounted and went to put it back on the bike and realized I didn't know which way the tire direction goes. You can see the "V" patter in the picture. So like most tires (at least in cars) the point of the V hits the ground first. I assume to wisk away rain. So that is the way I mounted it. But after looking at a ton of stock pics on line I guess was wrong. They all have the it mounted the other way around. Maybe some of you can educate me about tread patterns.

Yea all the pics I found they are mounted like that one. Tonight I'll have to switch it. Maybe someone can chime in to explain the tread patteren.

Yea I don't know anything about road tires, but all the ones that I have see have the lines pointing up towards the front of the bike.

I looked at my battleaxes and i THINK this is the indicator. it says front use only or something to that effect with the symbol. they are both pointing forward on my tires.

ya the little arrow is small but there is one. I thought the same thing with my front tire the pattern was going backwards but that is the way it's supposed to go.

ok the picture that you posted would be backwards on a bike... look at the tread and see how it starts in the middle and goes out to the side wall... you need the air and water to be pushed outwards towards the sidewall of the tire causing it to be pushed off of the tire...
