Default Power commander? yay or nay

I have a pretty much stock 03 636 and I have some buddies who ride R1's and would like to keep up a little more on the straights so I was wondering.. . How much more power would I get from a power commander with stock pipes? Would it be worth it to spend the $300.00 on?

It would make a little difference but without a more open exhaust, intake, and jets for more fuel, you are just wasting time and money. Personally, I think the PC should be the last mod...

The power commander is not made to give you lots of horse power. It is made to regulate air to fuel ratio. With a stock bikewiththe PC and a custom map, which would run you around $250 for the map alone.. You might gain 2 HP. But if you plan on doing after market exhaust and air filter later on it won't hurt. But as 05ZX6R said not a wise purchase for a stock bike. With my after market exhaust and air filter I only gained 4 1/2 horse power. But when I go to do more mods I have it. Only thing sucks you need to redo your map after each performance mod. And at $250 a pop could get more expensive. If you plan on doing more mods I would wait on it. JMO

You probably won't see much gain with a stock pipe by adding a PCIII. You will gain by adding a Slip-on orFull exhaustand K&N Air filter though. If you want even more power, get some stock cams from an 05-06 636. A full exhaust, cams, PCIII & filter will get you at least5-7 HP; maybe more. Add an ignition module and you're looking at around 10 HP.

I am talking about a custom map. A custom map done on a dyno. That is the how you get the best air to fuel ratio. I gained an extra 2 hp after I custom mapped my downloaded map.

Yeah, most Custom Dyno TunedMaps are around $200 plus. You will get the best driveability, A/F ratio and most HP that way. Wait till you ge a pipe before you decide a Custom Map though.
