Default possible to swap?

I have a 2002 zx6r and was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to swap out the whole rear (seat cowling) with a 2003 zx6r. I want to eliminate the rear handles and since i like the look of the rear ends of the 2003 and up models, why not try.

see the difference?

yes you can but the mounting points for the plastics on the sub frame are different. You would have to swap out the sub frame too, to make it all work right..

I was also thinking about doing this but I dont think that the body lines are close enough... just don't look right to me..

i don't think it's gonna work out. you who have to customize alot of stuff. think the seat would be the big thing. if you look at the top pic the seat sits different around the rear cowl. same on the lower pic. so swapping them out might take alot more work. but where there a will there a way? i guess. seats can be custom made and shaved to fit. i think thats not that big of a problem. though it would be nice for one of the stock seats to fit

i mean with the naked eye the frames almost look identical. the only things that look really different are the gas tank and fairings. but other than that it looks like its basicly the same fram and the sub frames look about the same too. but the subfame looks like its pointed up at a higher angle not much but thats how it looks. could just be how the bikes sitting in the pic of the 03. but a cheaper way to go i think (even though i think the 03 tails look better and it didnt look that bad when i used paintjob to impose the 03 tail on the 02.) but i think putting on a solo tail and shaving off the back grip bars would make it look cleaner too. and itd probably be cheaper

I have seen a zx9r with the 636 tail.. you just have to use the complete 636 set up seat sub frame under tray.. all of it...
