Was riding home from working out at the race track and got stuck in stop and go traffic. I've had only water in my bike since March since I do a lot of track days. Never been a problem till yesterday. It was about 104 out, sitting there after a 50 mile ride, and temps just kept creeping up till about 245. I shut the bike off, stuck it in a parking lot, went and saw transformers then came back. Topped it off with coolant, as it spewed water out onto the parking lot from boiling over. Started it up, rode home and didn't get over 205. All seems well. Just a reminder to flush and check your coolant during the hot summer months.

Can't you use Red line, or Water Wetter on the track?

No damage, saw a movie and got to flush your system again.

 

You need some type of water pump &seal lubricant that straight water doesn't have. Water wetter or Engine Ice also prevents corrosion.

 

Engine Ice is pretty good... I just took my bike out for the first time since I swapped over to it and I noticed a 10-15 degree difference...

 

did u have to buy 2 jugs of engine ice to fill your bike up? i was gonna buy some but i didnt wanna spend 40 dollars to have a slightly colder temp.

 

Well I bought 2 of them but only had to use 1. I'll save the second one for later I guess. Actually I'll use it on my bro's bike when he buys one.
