Default Oh what a sad day for my 06 636...

Well the canyons have claimed another victim. My beautiful 06 636 Limited (that's not so limited lol) edition baby is pretty bad off.

Beautiful day to ride with the canyons in great shape no dirt on the road. No people on the canyon other than my self and a couple buddies. Perfect day for a wreck. Was taking it easy to start things off but every apex I nailed I started getting what I can best relate to a runners high. I just wanted to take the next turn that much harder and boy was the bike willing and so was I. Finally got to a tight turn very tight. With the cliff on the outside of the turn leading very far down and a mountain on my inside leading very far up. Nailed the apex, perfect form perfect speed perfect everything. Until my knee started dragging to hard and without leathers with a puck on my knee I couldn't keep my knee planted and feel my lean or push off of my knee which was the turning point from perfect lean to oh **** my poor bike. Ended up leaning all the way until I brought my knee up, next thing was my peg dragging, then my boot, then everything including the side of my bike was dragging ended up going inside of the turn and slid into the mountain. Certainally better than going wide that's for sure.

Two hours of waiting with my bike for one of my buddies to get help (no cell reception up there as we found out the hard way) with a 1 square inch hole in my knee where I got to inspect my bone and tendon lol. Threw a turniquet on my leg laid down with my helmet elevating my leg and just waited for someone to come. 3+ hours later arrived at the hospital and got all stitched up. Plus a fractured thumb and a very sore shoulder lol.

Lessons learned and lessons relearned...

Gear saved me alot of pain maybe more. However next time I need to buy some leather pants with a puck. All other gear was on and did it's job perfectly.

Always ride with other people. Always. Lord knows how long I would have been up there otherwise.

This bike is more than capable of doing anything you ask it to. Thank God because going wide would have been certain death.

I haven't really figured this one out yet but be better than myself when judging when what I call a runners high for lack of a better term is getting the better of your judgment. As far as I am concerned had I had a puck on my knee to hold my line this would have instead been a text book turn. My line was perfect until I couldn't keep the bike from going lower since I didn't have the feel that you get when your dragging knee and I certainally didn't have the ability to hold the bike up without my knee down. Hard to tell your leaning to far without that feel for me anyways. It's one thing to know your low hard to tell exactly how low without it though. So once again more gear would have prevented this in my mind so always wear your gear! lol.

Bike wise I'm looking at all new plastics. The very top triple clamp. Ignition switch. Clip-on. Peg. Headlights. I'm sure there's more but haven't gotten a good look at the bike. I'm not very mobile at the moment and fighting infection off and hoping for a speedy recovery.

Now my number one dumb move is the fact I don't own anything else to get me to work. Don't ask why I would take the only thing I own to get me to work to the canyons. I have a mom and a girlfriend and I assure you I get the I can't believe your that stupid everyday and then some. Hopefully you guys will understand if not bite your lip and be happy to know the nagging of this will probably never stop and will be far worse when I get this bike going again.

I imagine someone will want some pictures to see and some will be posted when I'm in better health until then if anyone happens to have some of these parts laying around lol I'd be very interested in buying them off you.

And yes I do actually keep this stuff at the tracks. Usually... Buddies wanted to go up there and I went. Doh! =*(

Wow man, definately good you were able to keep her to the inside of that turn. I hope you succeed in that quick recovery. Glad to hear you're alright for the most part.

I've high hopes for the bike still... Being how I basically leaned it all the way on to her side the impact damage is minimal hopefully that will mean mechanically she is still good to go. Something was leaking when I last saw her. probably coolant really can't inspect anything yet though. I'll be able to proberly diagnose it at a later time. All things considered I'm feeling pretty good though. I love my Icon gear lol... Got me through a lot over the years.

Maverick, glad to hear you're ok. I've still got my stock rear sets, what side do you need? Also, I've got a lower left fairing (the blackish one) with a 3 inch crack in it near the motor housing - I left it on my bike for months - it's pretty unnoticeable. You're welcome to it - it'll save you ~$250. Not looking to make money on this stuff but if you wanna pay for shipping, consider it yours.

The right peg will be needed (bike did a flip at one point lol)

I was going to get some pazzos so levers may not be needed not really sure... actually yeah might as well snag that so I don't have to spend unneeded money.

Your offer is extremely generous and I would be very happy to pay the shipping for this. I'll fire you a PM...

BTW, just put Pazzo levers on (that's why I can spare the OEM). Very nice!
