hey guys. im new here and to the biking world. just purchased a used black 06 zx-6r. first time riding. lol. got a couple questions. Do cops usually pull over bikes going over the speed limit? and are these bike motors made for revving high and pushing it on a daily basis? any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

good to have another rider, be safe out there wear the gear![Smile](https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
as for the cops it all depends on where you live, the cops in this town constantly let us go, i had a friend get yelled at for doing 120mph in a 30mph zone, no ticket no jail time or impounding, the cop just yelled at him (while they were still driving) and told him to slow down. i was there and i couldent believe it lol
the 636 engine is made more for high reving than most but it is never a good idea to put any engine through that kind of abuse, ill hit the shift light maybe once a week.
somewhere i heard, dont know if it has any truth, but everytime you tach out or hit rev limit it decreases engine life by 10,000 miles, like i said dont know if it is true but just hearing that keeps me from taching to much
all in all they are awsome fun bikes, keep the rubber down and be safe.

1. Um, if you're going over the speed limit on a bike, yeah; cops seem to like to make a big deal out of it.
2. "Revving high" means a few different things. If you mean routinely revving through the gears up to about 12-14K rpms, no big deal. If you mean slamming the rev limiter and appearing (to the experienced observer) that you are eitherabout to know your bike insuranceor life insurance representative on a first name basis, (very soon,) then you're probably revving a bit too high.
Sup_uni is right; the 600s typically don't begin to hit their steam until after 10-12K, but you don't want to make a habit of totally thrashing the engineon a daily basis.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the 600's for that very reason. I don't like to wrench the rpm's tofeel like I'm "moving." I like a bit moretorque when I twist the throttle, and prefer a larger displacement engine.
Just my opinion.

Good luck and have fun, these 600 are not as fast as the 1000 but they can still get away from you in a big hurry. So take it easy and ride in your comfort zone.

Good point, your speedo will read faster than what you are really going. At slower speeds it is pretty much correct but at high speeds such as 120 you might actually be doing 110 or 115.

coming from a kind of law enforcement backround and knowing a lot of cops here's my 2 cents...
1) bikes are harder to hit with the radar because they're smaller... smaller radar cross section compared to a car...
2) cops around where I'm from (NH/MA) usually don't bother with anything thats not over 10mph over and 80mph on the highway (like 90 in MA) unless you **** them off and give them reason to pull you over...
3) if it comes down to it a bike can loose a cop car (sup_uni thats why the cop just yelled... he prob had no chanceto catch up and give him a ticket[8D]) so if your smart and behave then you should be ok...
