Default New to the forum...Need a lil input

Well, like it says up top...i'm new to the forum and just had a few questions. I plan on getting a 600 and was just wondering about pros/cons. I know i can't afford a brand new bike right now even though i'd love to...but i am trying to find out around what years are good to be looking at. I got about $4,500 to spend...its my first bike...so i figure thats a pretty good price. Anyway...how does millage work on bikes as far as prices and quality goes? what should i look for so i don't get screwed? I can't think of anything else right now...but ANY input on buying a bike would be greatly appreciated fellas. [8D]

Welcome to the forum. A good place to look at what used bikes are selling for would be ebay. You can use this as a guideline before you actually buy a bike. But i have seen 03-04 636's with 5k miles sell for around $5000+. If you are into the regular 600 you will definetly get one in your price range and thats with low miles. I know this really didnt help you much, but good luck in your search. As long as its a kaw you will be happy.

Well, thanks for the info...i just thought a few more things...whats the difference between a ZX6R and a ZX6RR...I'm guessing the R is a 600 and the RR is a 636...I'm sure a 600 will hold my interest for a while. Another thing, how do I go about getting licensed, i read some posts about people taking courses...is this necessary, or just a personal preference...cause I don't think i'd waste my time if i dont have to.

The difference between the 6r and 6rr and the zx6 can be found at www.kawasaki.com I would check it out before you descide which bike you want. There is a huge difference between the 6r (636) and the zx6. The class you take (which i am currently taking) is very worth while. I have only had my permit for the last 6 years.(i was to lazy to take the class) I have learned alot in class and it also lowers your insurence a little.

Well, I'm not sure which one I want yet, I want the best one for the streets. I know I will prolly never bring it to the track. I just want one that looks good...is quick...good handling...like I said, its my first bike, so I don't need something I can race and stuff. What would you guys recomend for street driving???

A 6r(636) is a very nice bike for the street/track. The zx6 is a little less powerful but handles great and is alot more rider friendly when it comes to rider comfort. The zx6 would make a great first bike for you. Also it would be in your price range!!

The ZX-6R is my first bike and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I've been running with various modded 03's and 04's bikes and I can stay with them shifting at around 10k to 12k on the tach.

I won't be going full tilt just yet cause the front end gets too light. I will wait till I get a GPR damper to tame the action I get when the front end comes back down.
