Default need some help 85 ninja

hey everyone im new to this site and to Kawasaki. i have recently come into possession of a 1985 ninja 600 it does not run and needs a little work. i am wondering if you guys could give me some help on finding a good place to get some parts to get it going. i called the dealer and they want mucho bucks of course. i know that it probably needs the carbs rebuilt and plug wires/solenoids. they guy i bought it from told me that was probably the problem. it has been sitting for about 8 years i bought it as a project bike to keep me busy. i was also thinking about rebuilding the whole motor.

thanks for any info you guys can give me

why? I agree with the plugs, wires and the carb cleaning along with the new air filter. 8yrs is a long time to be sitting around. That will keep you busy checking all of the vacuum lines, fuel lines, cleaning the fuel tap, etc. Good luck and enjoy.

well i thought it might be a good idea since it has been sitting so long. i would probably see how it ran first before i did a rebuild. where i am at right now is i need a starter solenoid but i think im going to have to buy the whole starter, i need coils and plug wires and a right side handle with throttle, its really sticky.

thanks for the idea of getting another motor that would probably help a lot.

ill post some pics up in a few days once i get it all cleaned and looking cute

would any one know what years are compatible with the 85 i know it can be like 85-87 i was wondering if i can use like 1990 and up? can i use a solenoid from a newer bike? would the connectors on the throttle and kill switch match from different year and would it be possible to use different bike clip on like from a gsxr i really like the handles on mine

sorry i just get all these ideas lol

The microfiche is your buddy for checking part numbers. Vernier calipers work best when seeing if another rides parts will fit. good luck.
