Default LIFTER NOISE...

I have an 03 636 and there is a lovely lifter ticking. The guy at the dealership I bought the bike from said he had the same problem with his 03 and had the head ripped apart while it was still under warranty and said there was nothing wrong with it. He said that he used carb cleaner and sprayed it in the intake (at least thats what I think he said) I was just wondering if anyone else has/had the same problems. If so did the carb cleaner in the intake work or is there another fix? Thanks for the help.

Dave

the 636's from what i know of are just nosey motors. Mine makes the same kind of noises and runs just fine. A friend who had an 03 said the same thing about his and it making noise also.

Mine is pretty noisey too...My buddy has an 04 6rr and his is the same way. I would say as long as it's running fine - don't mess with it.

+ to all of the above comments. I hadn't had a Kawasaki for a while and when I got my 636, I thought the motor was abnormally noisy. I thought it sounded like a diesel. It's Hi-Performance and to lighten it they made everything thin including the engine cases, cylinders & head so you just hear more of the mechanical noise due to that. One noise that isn't normal is the cam chain slapping noise. I recommend getting a manual tensioner/ adjuster. You can get an APE on ebayor a race kit one from Kawasaki.
