Default late night strip

so i finally got out to the strip last night, got 3 runs in before the bike ran out of gas, oops!

best time was 12.000 @ 121.12

i ate me an 07 zx6r with the 636 but i give the guy props he kept up pretty good

stock times are in the 11 sec range and i know i could have gotten there if i had more time.

they siad they would kick me off the track if i hit 130 mph for "not propper gear" they couldent find the DOT number on my ICON helmet so i tried to stay below 130

Not bad. I got mine to a best of 10.96 so far. Still looking at the weather to see if I am going tonight or not. Looking pretty nasty at Rockingham at the moment, but the bike is in the trailer ready to go.

Pretty unlikely you will get to 130's with the 636 though. Even with my 10.96 I was only at 127 and change. Most tracks use the sub 10 second rules for gear.

that's a damn good time. i live 10 mins away from Grand Bend's Motorplex and i wanna try my hand at the 1/4 mile. i honestly have no idea what to do lol. but i'm sure i'll figure it out.lauching at around 4000rpms is what i'll likely try first. i'm not surprised to hear that u beat the 07 just because of the extra cc's. but i bet he did give ya a run though, first gear is very tall on the 07's. anyway, good run. oh and i was wondering about the gear u r talkin about, as in what all do they require usually?

My bike is stock mechanically, with the exception of a LeoVince pipe. It even has the stock air filter. It is not set up for the drag strip at all, but rather, set up for road courses. I turned a best of 11.07 with my 06 CBR 600RR my very first time at the drag strip last year as well. The 10.96 run was only my second trip to the strip and it was only one run that I was able to get below 11's. I can usually turn 11.10's and 11.20's all night long, but got a very good launch on that one. Still lost to a Gixxer 1000 on that run though.

It's all in the launch, cause after that, all you are doing is shifting and keeping the throttle pinned. Long as you can keep the front down anyways....

This is my bike and it was run at the strip exactly in this set up. This particular pic was taken at Roebling Road Raceway for a track day... I just do drag strip stuff for fun here and there.

I am probably just launching harder. What are your 60' times? That will tell most of the tale. RT is just part of the battle, but the reality is that you can have a great reaction time but slow launch which will translate to a slower run. The time does not start until you trip the lights anyways.

What RPM's are you launching at? How much do you weight?

Keep in mind also that my bike is set up for the track. No lights at all and track fairings, so it is considerable lighter than stock.

10.96 is a very respectable time! Great!
