Default Kawazaki Ninja ZX6r as a first bike after 20 years.

I’m 41, mature, 6 Ft., 210 lbs., enjoy sports, and I was wondering after two decades of not riding would anyone recommend a ZX6R? If not what would be your recommendation?

I wouldnt see a problem with it. Just make sure you start out slow, these things will do 80 mph in first gear...and they do it quick. Throttle control will be your best friend. Just make sure you sit on one and youre comfortable.

Welcome to the KF Family!!! Hopefully when I'm 41 I'm still ridin'!!!

If you are lookin' for a sportbike you can't get any better unless it is Italian!!!

Riiight!!

But as mentioned, you need the control of how to learn any of the bikes out there. Get comfy and make up your own mind on which one will fit your needs. Good luck.

Exclamation Ninja ZX6R? Maybe...

I just bought a 08' ZX-6R. I've put on about 180miles on this brand new bike. Amazing bike, fast and grips the road very well. And yes it can do 70mph in the first gear. The bike responds every time you twist the throttle, I love it and shifting is as smooth, fast and accurate. Sounds great and has really bright lights for night riding.
So now that we have all the good outta the way, the one major downside to this bike (and I hate to admit it after paying 9k for it ) is its not comfortable riding over long distances. My wrist hurts after only about an hour or riding. I'm 6ft, 170lbs. I cant really hold this against the bike since the zx6r was built for the track and not really a street bike. I think the perfect bike for you would be the ninja zzr600. I should have bought that but I loved this looks of this bike.... more aggressive looking and also came with the DOHC.
If you plan on cruising more often zx6r is NOT for you. Hope this helps.

Get an 05-06 636. It's comfortable and has great power. You'll like it. Easy to ride but like others have warned, watch that throttle because here's 100 plus HP on tap and quick to pick up speed.
