I prefer the BMC, and yes it is worth it with your slip on.... BUT you HAVE to have a power commander with them. You can run one or the other and be okay, but if you put both on you have to install a powercommander or else your bike will run too lean, and running lean is bad...

As far as the filters go it is all just personal preference, I have been using K&N because I like to be able to reuse it. I believe that the BMC post better numbers though.
You need to take extra care with the K&N when oiling and not over oil it or you decrease airflow.
