Default Hyperpro torque specs question

I got a Hyperpro Steering damper and I am getting ready to install it. Inoticed in the instructions that it has torque specs for certain bolts. Is it a big deal to be 100% correct??? or do i just tighten the hell out of them?? is it really necessary to buy a torque wrench to install this steering damper?

thanks guys

you dont need a torque wrench for this but you do need a basic understanding of how many lbs its asking you to tighten it to. if you go ape**** on all the bolts then chances are your going to cause some damage later on down the road or right then and there. if it says 100 lbs, tighten freakin tight, 35 lbs, dont go so crazy. youll be allright.

prolly a good item/tool to have when it becomes necessary to pay attention to detail on other items of your ride.

could you borrow/rent one for the day? it will only take a second to do. but i agree with dragone#19, it is a great tool to have around if you ever have to do maintanance on your bike.

so i bought one. a cheap one. about 11 bucks at autozone. I fooled around with it a bit to get an idea of how much pressure is how many foot pounds. well...im pretty sure that i followed the directions in inch pounds but i dialed in foot pounds on the micrometer. my bike will now probably fall apart. But i love the damping, best decision i've ever made, regardless of how much it hurt my pockets. thanks guys for your help
