I like the polished lips GS. I have been wanting to do that since the first time i seenit.
Speed, I think there is a write up in the DIY section. About everything I have read says airplane stripper. What exactly that is, I dont know.
I have started on my passanger peg brackets and one looks pretty good. Alot of work getting the texture off the bracket. I have probobly close to 12hrs in the left pass bracket alone and it could use a little more work. Figured I would do the lips last, after it got a little warmer.

Speed I PMed you back this morning. hope you got it.
I used Tal-Strip II its a Mar-Hyde product. I got it at Kragen (Schucks or Checker depending on your location). I tried another brand first and the Tal-Strip II works way better. its like a green gel and I just dabbed it on with a paint brush. one large for big areas and a small modeling brush for the edges. The outside temp will make a difference on how long and how many coats you have to use. The warmer the better. Watch out if you get any on you it burns like hell.
Oh yeah the best part is you don’t have to polish the metal. That beautiful polished lip is hiding under the coating. ( just make sure you don’t strip past the textured edge or you will have to sand and polish the textured metal smooth).
Someone did do a write up in the DIY section a while back, but I think it involved sanding the coating off. Stripping it off is much easer. Just apply the stripper, crack open a cold one and let the stripper do all the work. (sounds like a good night huh)

It's safe to use on Aluminum since airplanes are made of mostly aluminum.
GS247, thanks I got your PM. I bought a pair of wheels with the edges already stripped and they look great. I wanted to strip the rest of it and get them anodized.
