HELP Downed Bike!
Hey guys I am new to the forums I have a problem and thought i might find some help here. I just got a brand new 09' ZX-6r and crashed without insurence I know its preety much a horror story. The front end is preety bad bent rim, the accelerator broke off and is dangling the bike starts and accelerates fine there is a little more damage then that. Anyways long story short I want to make the bike at the least rideable again. I live in Portland OR and was wondering if anyone knew of any shops that are reasonable for bike repairs. Or if you have any other ideahs to help me i am more then open to suggestion.
Welcome to KF!
Sorry about the down. Is this your first ride? If you have a shop rebuild your bike it will probably cost you more than its worth, and 09 parts may be hard to come by on the cheap. Your best bet is to fix the bike yourself, I'm assuming your fairings are busted, cheapest way to get riding again would be to streetfighter it andreplace the fairings later, not my style but your back on two wheels. For parts, check ebay daily. Replace anything thats bent/broken, if its just scratched who cares. Rims arent cheap but it sounds like that will be your biggest cost....hopefully. On that note, there may be damage you cant see, which will bring your costs way up. Since you hit something with the front hard enough to bend the rim, you may have also bent the forks as well. Forks arent cheap, especially on the new rides. Usually the forks will take the brunt of the damage, but if you hit something really hard you could have bent the frame neck too, I ran into that on my last ride and had to give up on her. This time of year it could cost up to $2k just for forks and a frame if they are damaged, so I hope you didnt hurt it too bad. Get some pics up when you get a chance buddy, and have fun getting her back on the road.
Oh and you might want to fix that dangling accelerator problem

Welcome to the forums, sorry to hear about your drop.
1. Never ride without insurance...even in a state that doesn't require it.
2. If you haven't done so, get into an MSF class...personally I think that should be a requirement before endorsement
3. make sure you wear all the gear.
I know I didn't answer any of your questions, but someone had to say the obvious. Good luck man.

Giving up already? Whats wrong with it? Rebuilding a bike is easier than it sounds, as long as the major bits are intact. Depending on the damage you can sell it whole on ebay for anywhere from 500-2500 (but you need to know exactly whats wrong with it for top dollar) or sell the parts (huge hassle) for maybe 3000 if all the parts are good. As long as the frame is straight and the forks are good you could be back on the road for under $300 to replace the rim and the throttle. Get some pics up and some details on the damage and we can help you out better.
