I dunno, I wouldn't really want to hit the dog with a bike either. I mean, I wouldn't have any moral qualms about it, I would just be worried about where me and the bike go after the dog. At least setting it down you can control the damage a bit.

no matter what, a bad situation to be in.

edit.... go buy some frame sliders!

Had to think hard about armadillos, now that you mention it. Their defense mechanism is to JUMP real high. When getting run over, obviously, this is a bad thing to do (they hit the bottom of most vehicles and it's all over, literally). But hey, they have probably been on the earth a lot longer than us, so who am I to say?

But I am getting a vision of heading straight for the armadillo, and having it jump as I come up on it, and taking it in my face!

Anyway, this just reminds us it is good to consider what MIGHT happen on the road and decide beforehand what you want to do in that case. For instance, both swerving around the dog and heading straight for the dog are probably BOTH better than being indecisive and doing half of one and half of the other.

Just curious, was the dog coming after you, or was it just standing in the wrong place at the right time? There is a technique we are taught to avoid dogs chasing us from the side, so I am wondering whether that was the case here.

Oh and I have no idea where to get parts! Hope you are ok though!
