Default Dumbe Question From a Newb.....

Sorry for the dumb question...just bought my first bike and am new to everything. Got it home and am wondering how do you open the gas lid? I put the key in and turn it and nothing happens. Is there some kind of push pull trick or something? lol I hope to be making much more advance posts in a couple weeks...but please bare with my complete lack of motorcycle knowledge for the time being. haha

BTW, it's a '94 ZX6 with 3600 miles on it. Looks like it was dropped a few times as it has some painted over scuffs, a crack or two and the dual mufflers are scuffed. (which I didn't really see when I looked at it before buying at night)...so I'm kinda bummed about that, but it's my first bike so I figured it'll be ok. Still gets to me, being a perfectionist. Nothing major, and it seems to ride good. Paid $2400. What do yall think?

Still a good price make sure you have it turned all the way should be a spring oaded hing and it should just pop up. Where are you located?

I'm in Tampa, FL.

I was afraid it was supposed to be that easy. Tried just turning the key and nothing happens?? Seller didn't mention a seperate key...guess I'll have to ask him. Yeah, I think I got a decent deal..though I don't really know much about bikes, so who am I to say. lol Will post up some pics of it when I get around to taking a few. *update* Got the gas lid open, yay! lol It's just a tight fit.

Second question, where's a good place to buy parts online? Off the bat, I'm looking to replace a few of the fairings...the inner left fairing is half there and the inner fairing around the guages is cracked. Other than those two things...I can probably live with most of theother scrapes and scuffsfor the time being. Also would like to do something with the exhaust. It has dual exhaust, don't know what my options are....but I'd like to do something aftermarket (and ditch those scuffed up factory mufflers at the same time). Any opinions?

should be the same key for everything. try pushing down on the cap then turn the key while you have a little pressure on it. look to e bay, it will be your new found place for finding good cheap parts.

+1^ you can get an unpainted complete fairing kit for around 800. Then you can paint it what ever color you want. Try cyclegear.com 51cycle.com denniskirk.com just to name a few. You can also do a part search online. Just type in what you are looking for.
