Coolant Leak
I'm posting this for a friend. From his discription, a 88 model 600 is leaking coolant out of weep holes on both sides of the head. He's considering purchase of bike, as it's dirt cheap. What I'm looking for is most probible cause for this happening. BTW the fluid is rusty looking. Thanks in advance.

tell him to find out exactly what's wrong with it before he buys it. it could be a head gasket but if you said the fluid looks rusty, it might actually be oil. even if it is rusty that means someone put plain water in the coolant system and it's probably rusting out the radiator, etc. it will need a full tear down after a leak down test. they will probably have to take off the radiator and flush it if it's okay, blow out the water pump, etc. look at spending $1000 to get it fixed.
Thanks for the quick replies. He's going to pass on the bike, as there are more issues, one being that 2 blades on the coolant fan are somewhat melted/deformed, without being charred. Someone must've had it way hot!!!!
