my 06 zx-6r fuel light comes on at 110, i drive it like a woman.. being i'm still breaking it in.. just got my first service done at 550miles, only cosmetics done to it at this point.. is there a chance the fuel light could just come on early? is it a bad idea to run it dry just to see how much i get to a tank because most people here post their light coming on at 140-160mile. i'm a little premature guys.. i ain't likeing that. what u guys think? and where the hell is the damn reserve on these bikes? thanks all

There is no reserve on these bikes. Also as far as running it out of gas...it shouldnt hurt it....will take a little while for the fuel to get from the tank to the engine when u refill it though. I used to be like you and my light coming on early. Seems since Im out of the breakin period and running it harder...it doesnt come on as soon.

 

next time your fuel light comes on fill up asap. see how much your tank takes and subtract that from how much your tank holds.(i think its 4.8 gallons but someone will correct me if im wrong) and see what your MPG is then u will be able to determine how many miles u can ride after the light comes on.


Since your bike is so new, it wont really hurt anything to run it dry except your pride when u are pushing it. Now older bikes on the other hand will have dirt build up in the bottom of the tank so that wouldnt be a good idea to run and older bike dry, JMO

hey gotrice you knew we would. it is 4.5 gallons. just hard on the pump to run it out of gas because the pump uses the gas to cool it self. JMO
