Anything I should know?
I just bought a 06 zx6r, This is my first street bike. Is there anything I should listen or look for on my first ride? Do these bikes have a reaccuring problem or recalls on them? Otherwise just any good pointers for being a first timer on a street bike? I just got rid of my dirtbike so I have experience on dirt.
whole different ballgame, but still same sport. these bikes have a little tapping noise in the top end but that is nothing to worry about. just the norm streetbike noise. kawis have a genetic thing about shifting into neutral from first while moving. you get used to it.
no recalls have been done for these bike to my knowedge.
the one and only complaint that i have about these bikes are the suspension is just a touch to hard for street riding (they are set up for track). again something you get used to.
other than those i can not think of anything else...
be safe and have fun out there. welcome and hope you find what you need here

First thing probably already know is that that's a kick a$$ bike! and we need pics too. Like you I'm used to dirt and got back into steet again and like sup said it's a whole new world. Just take the MSF class, use your head and wear all your gear. Try not to look at the speedometer all the time at first it will just distract you from the car that suddenly stopped in front of you! Go to a big parking lot and practice low speed turns and braking, it will help. Oh and welcome!

There is one thing that you'll really have to watch out for, coming from the dirt to the street. You will find that the longer you ride, the harder it will be for you to remove that stupid grin, and people will start thinking that you aren't right in the head. Welcome to the KF family. Make sure you get into an MSF course as soon as you can. It will save your life.
Cam chain tensioners cause a lot of slop & noise in the ZX6R's. The suspension on the 03-04 636 were the ones too stiff for the street but the 05-06 are just right unless you weigh less than 150 pounds with gear on. Other than that, I haven't heard of anything. Our team raced an 05 636 and never complained of any transmission problems. If you shift wrong, you will damage transmissions especially 2nd gearon any bike.
well I do weight more than 150lbs but not by much, ill be getting pictures as soon as I get my bike into the state. Its in Florida right now and I live in Wisconsin, and its killing me.
