Default Anti-theft advise

My neighbor's Harley was stolen last week. I'm thinking my bikes next. I have 2, 5/8in cable locks one on the back wheel and one on the front wheel. I'm not comfortable with just cables, considering they can be cut too easily. I was thinking about one of those U shaped locks then I heard all you need is a small car jack to break those. What are the pros and cons on disk locks or what about an alarm?
