Default Is the 600cc a girl's bike

Today I hung out with some biker's that where in a MC and I ask them a few question about 600cc and the 636cc bike. First of all this will be my first bike but that's beside the point. Some of them started with a 600 for a month or two then went to a 7cc bike. Some started with a bigger bike from the start. They told me that a 600 is a girl's bike and I will out grow a 600 in know time. Soon as I get use to the bike I will want to get rid of the bike for something bigger. I realy want a new bike but, how do some one out grow or even get tired of a bike. I was told to get a 7cc bike any 7cc bike and I would'nt have to worry about trading the bike for something else for a while.(I would have the bike longer) before I'am ready for a bike bigger then the 7cc. I know I have to try the bike out to see what feel comfortable to me but sitting on them is not enough I need to test ride and you can not do that in NY. So what's the big deal with that, what's the big deal between the 636 and the 7cc bike, is there a big difference I know the rider skill's play's a great importance to the bike but why a 7cc is not call a girl's bike. Why do people need more need for speed, more power a faster bike. I just want to ride and have fun and of course I 'am going to join a MC so when I'am ready can I hang with the bigger bike or what . Any one who had a bike bigger than a 636 and down grade them selves to a 600 if so please respond I need some help. Tell me what bike you have ridden and the bike you have now befor you answer. I going to make my purchase this fall.

Well I own a ZX6RR and a ZX7R they are both good bikes and very fast ones. I recently purchased the ZX6RR, why you ask ? I had the oppurtninty in purchasing a ZX10R, but i went for the ZX6RR becuase I could have a lot more fun on it then a ZX10R (1000cc), the bike is much smaller and lighter, and obvioulsy has less power, but with that and keeping that in mind, in tight turns i can easily have open throttle on the 600cc then in the 1000 i would have to feather the throttle becuase of the amount of power and torque. Dont get me wrong bigger bikes are very fun also, but i wanted to hit turns at full thorttle and not feather it and enhance my skills much more. The 750cc is a great power machine very fast but i bit more stiff then the 600cc, so in the end it all depends on what you plan on doing with the bike , and if you are intrested in the 636cc that is just about the same power as a 7cc bike plus i dont think anyone makes 750cc anymore expect for suzuki and i belive they will discontinue that as well. If you need more convencing I'd also recommend you pick this months issue of cycle rider where they compare a couple 600 bikes and a couple of 1000, and in both clase the ZX6r and the ZX10R came out champs, and just and FYI the ZX6R was a second or two slower then the ZX10R fastest lap so you can see regardles of how mucho power you have, you cna olny go so fast in those turns either you want to go full throttle or feather the throttle. hope this helps a little

I think those guys you talked to were right. The 600 bike is a girls bike.(just ask some of the girls in this forum who own one) But it is also a guys bike. I doubt very much that they had ridden a 636 As for getting bored of it, i doubt it. Well let me take that back. You can get bored of it IF YOU DONT LIKE RIDDING. Other than that you will have to make up your own mind. I started out on a ninja 250 knowing that i got it just to learn on. I stepped up to a ninja 500. I got rid of that not because i was bored, but becaust the ninja 750 i was looking at was sweet and cheap. But i soon found i didndt like the ridding position so i got a 636. I am now currently on my second 636 and will never leave the 600 class. You get comfort, power and looks all wrapped up in a bike that can run with pretty much every 750cc out there. Hell just this weekend i rode with a dude on a 02 cbr 929 and on the back roads it felt like we had the same size bike. The highway i lost him at about a buck 20. BUt hey what fun is it ridding that fast with some one. The fun is in the curves. Hell my dodge ram 2500 can do 120 in a straeght line!!

In my opinion people who say
600 is a girl's bike and I will out grow a 600 in know time.
are FULL OF $H!T !! I guess they must think that a Hyabusa is a girls bike too, since I see more women on that bike then guys!!

They must be the badest rider in the nation is they say that they can out do anything if they are on a 600cc bike. If this bike wasn't big enough, we wouldn't have the supersport class that runs 600's or any of the 600cc classes world wide!! I bet if they went to track days they would get smoked by a 600cc bike.

Look, it all comes down to what you want to do with the bike.. If you like to run in the twisty stuff more often or do things like track days, then get a 6. If you just want to go straight fast, then get a liter bike. If your going to stunt with it, then who cares. If i'm not mistaking, your still young too right?! Call the insurance people up and see what the difference is for you between a 600cc and anything bigger. Well, I'll get off my soap box now bt just like I stated in the very beggining....just my $0.02

i don't know what to say on this one.. except I would listen to anyone thats going to tell me what is or isn't a girls bike..
ask him if any one the pro racers that race the 600 classes are girls.. then ask him if he would be able to keep up with them on his bike of choice.. my bet is he would get lapped a few times

Well I'll be the girl to speak up on this one! I was going to get a litre bike to start because I found them cheaper and easier than 600's when I was looking. Want to know why?? Because all the guys AND girls wanted to keep their 600cc bikes. My now-ex bf has been riding for 14 years and is riding a Yamaha R6. I've been riding for three months and I have a Kawi ZX-6. NO BIKE IS A GIRL'S BIKE, nor is any car a girl's car.

Tell you what, you get your 750 or whatever you wanna get, and when you're ready, I'll let you try to keep up with the taillights on my ZX-6. [:'(]

Sorry guys...My last 2 bikes were 600's and now I have the 1000. Stop the BS about the 600's being better in the twisties as the size of the bike is almost the same it's just that the engine is a monster compared to the 600's! I do just as well in the twisties on my 10r as I've done with all my 600's! My 600 can't touch the speed or torque of my liter so stop kidding yourselves! Once you get a Liter bike...you'll understand. My 600 can top off at about 145-150.....Liter 185-190....big difference! [8D]

It's two different things to compare/contrast 600's vs. 1000's. But to call it a girl's bike???? He's begging to get something kicked!!!

Straight line speed liter bike, twisty stuff 6's are easier to handle (new rider were talking to). There you go, a rider that has had both that just re-iterated what I said.
All that torque from the liter bikes when in the twisty stuff can get you in trouble very fast, the 6's will have a quicker steering response then the liter bikes too.

I just came back this week with my boys, which by the way. All had 600cc. We had four including mine 636, two R6. Ok and there was a C51 and 750 ninga (old school kawai). To be honest the kid with the c51 could most Def ride and the 750 was running pretty good. But I'm sorry, being that I just started riding in April and just starting ridding my 636 since this past Thursday 6/30, I made them pretty boys look pretty stupid at 130mph...

Alot of guys I meet this weekend and talked to this weekend told me flat out. 636 is an awesome bike. Beginner riders or expert riders.
