Default 2006 ZX-6 Purchase

Greetings all,

I am looking at buying a 2006 ZX-6. It has 7600 miles with two brothers exhaust. The asking price is $5400. I think this may be a good deal but am not sure. I am hardly an expert on bikes. When I looked at it I noticed a bit of gunk on the sprocket. Not sure if this is normal or not but I took a picture of it. Also after I started and stopped it I noticed that there was some moisture and soot inside the exhaust. No smoke when running and revved up. I have attached a photo of the bike and the sprocket. Please let me know what you guys think. I want to make a deal on it tomorrow. Any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

the bike looks like it was well maintained...the rear sprocket still looks good...the moisture could be casued due to outside temperature...best bet would be to take someone that knows something about bikes with you...5700$$$ is an asking price for stock in my neck of the woods...

Welcome to KF and good luck.

From the sprocket pic, that is definitely not my idea of just some gunk. Maybe a bad camera pic though.

From what I see, that gunk is just poor cleaning. Probably cleaning the bike, but never touched the sproket. The inside of my rims will get that way if I don't clean them. Other then that the bike looks to be in good shape. Just take some type of cleaner to it let it soak and have fun getting nasty cleaning it up.

Lower that price! I just paid 4200 for an 05 ZX6R with 2300 miles, 100% stock, and a dealer warranty for 3 months!

I actually got the bike. Got the owner down to $4650 and I am pretty pleased with it. Only issue I am dealing with now is the license plate is rubbing against the rear tire. Im 6'0 225 so I am thinking I need to decrease the pre-load a bit. Other than that Im having a blast. Got it on the freeway today and discovered that it had way more top end than I figured!

+1 on everyone, def not gunk on the sproket, just clean it and re lube. as far as the moisture it will be fine, everytime i start mine and it is under 50 out i see droplets and i have the same exhaust. (think of it like, how many cars have you seen that spew water out the exhaust on cold mornings?)

nice looking bike i know you will not be dissapointed by teh 636 people say its heavy but i still keep up with the 09's

be safe and keep the wheell down.
5700 is way good price, i constantly see 05-06 around here go for 7+, ive evne had some bites on mine asking for 9K (i dont want to sell, but if someone brings be 9 its thiers) dont laugh it has happened before
