2005 zx6r ignition
Just picked up a 2005 zx6r engine for my race bike next year. I am building the bike from scratch and the engine did not come with the key and associated hardward to use it in.
I have this bypassed on my sv650, just wondering how it is done on the 636.
Anyone done it yet? Thanks.[/align]

RE: 2005 zx6r ignition
Thanks for all the replies!
I bought my parts from various salvage yards and ebay. I have basically a full bike (minus things i dont need to race, like a keyed ignition! hehe) in crates in my shop.
So it is as simple as connecting those two sets of wires together? no resistors required? im not going to blow fuses and/or the ecu? Just want confirmation that you have done this before and it works.
If that is the case i will just have to solder in a switch between one of those two connections, right?
Thanks again

Actually you only need to cnnectthe Brown and white wires together. The other 2 were for the taillight. You don't have to solder. Just get spade connectors and crimp them on. This way it's easy to undo. You can test it by jumping those 2 wires together. I was looking at the wiring print.

RE: 2005 zx6r ignition
Just found some literature for the 2003-04 zx6r stating that in order to get past the stock ignition system you need to run a 100ohm resistor from the grey wire. The guy had an electrical engineer on hand and found that from the stock ignition the grey wire was only sending 10volts back to the ecu, not 12 so a 100ohm resistor brought it from 12 to 10 when the stock ignition was removed. Geez, i hope that made sense hahahha!
Any idea if this is needed on the 05/06? the guys said that it would probably (they didnt test) work w/o the resistor, assuming that the ecu should be able to handle the full 12v but i would prefer to do it up the best way that i can. Keep Mr. Ecu happy so that he dosen't **** off on me anytime soon.
Ideas?

Cheers.
