Default 2001 zx6r stock muffler mod???

Hello all;

I did a search on the forums and I was unable to come across the info I am looking for, I am looking for a litter more sound, at this point I don't want to venture into a slipon, funds are too tight, was curious if I can take apart the stock muffler and remove packing or baffle to increase sound? I see there are three rivots and I have already drilled them out, and now replaced them with stainless screws. I was unable to separate the exhaust, not entirely sure if it simply comes apart at all.

anyhow, wondering if anyone else had tried this approach, I was able to drill out the baffle on my klx250s for more sound, and then upgraded to an fmf q4.

thanks cheers Greg.

I have not played with this ride yet, but sometimes shortening the can 4-6 inches or so works as well.

I've seen it done on a bike or two and it made a nice difference. I'm going to shorten the D&D on my 98 (cause it's cracked), I can't wait to see what it sounds like. I just gotta get some stainless rivets.

Dunno about the 01, but I shot my V&H out the back when my rivets came loose. I have bad encounters with exhausts it seems. You should be able to pull it out once you get the rivets loose, but I cant say it will be easy.
