Default 2001 ZX-6R Carbs

Hey everyone,
I've been looking around a bit for a set of carbs that will fit on my bike. Im looking for actual slide carbs with an accelerator pump (trying to get more instant response out of my little 600). I am a dirt rider and these vacuum carbs just don't have the hit I'm looking for. I've already cleaned my stock carbs and checked them over so I'm pretty sure they are running at their top performance, but I just feel like I'm getting shorted. Thanks for any advise in advance.

Thats good and all if I wanted stock carbs, Im looking for more responsive carbs, than the stock vacuum style. I am looking for actual throttle slides with accelerator pump style carbs. Since those havent been in use for a long time i was wondering if anyone knows what type of carbs, that are that style, fit onto the bike if any do.

i have a feeling that the "hit" you are looking for is not a carb issue but a matter of the cam timing. sportbikes are cammed completely differently than dirtbikes

for example a klx650 has peak torque at about 5500rpm - but a zx6r has peak torque at 11,500rpm. the torque is the hit you feel.

Could be the cam timing, but due to emissions an accelerator pump on most carbureted streetbikes is not around, the pump gives the instant hit as the squirt from the pump gives and extra burst of fuel for faster reving. Its the exact same thing as performance carb's on cars and trucks, to compensate for the instantaneous gasp of air, the pump squirts gas in a small stream, until the carburetor can catch up. Of course it is just a 600cc bike which doesn't have as much torque per lb that I'm used to. I might just be SOL till I can upgrade to a liter bike.

You can get some flat slide or radial slide carbs from Sudco. Or put 03 636 FI setup with all the electrics that goes with it. OR, just buy an FI'd bike.

Hhhmmm I really would like to go fuel injected, I dont know if I have the cash to convert a bike over like that. I'm just really biding my time on this little bad boy till I can move up to a 1000cc FI bike. Thanks for the advice guys definitely some good ideas

Just buy a Throttle body, full harness & electrics off of ebay for an 03 636. Winters coming; they should be going cheaper and you'll have lots of time to do the mod.
