Hi all,
I picked up a 1996 zx6 that was abandoned at a shop and I'm trying to get it going. It was missing a few parts, air cleaner housing and fuel pump and a few other misc bits and pieces. I bought the missing pieces and I have it running but it doesn't run very good, lots of surging and it acts like it is running out of gas at times. I'm an experienced bike mechanic and I've been through the carbs and confirmed they are all stock and clean. Bike starts easy and idles perfect and at times it will run perfect but the next hit it might go or it might fall on its face. On the parts diagram there is a pipe to connects to a hose that goes up past the front of the air cleaner housing on one end and wraps around the back of the air cleaner housing on the other. This pipe is missing on mine and I have just ordered one off of ebay. The problem is that I cannot find anything that tells me how this pipe is supposed to be connected. It looks like there are two smaller hose nipples on the pipe but I'm not sure where those connect, the carb vents maybe? It also looks like it may be supposed to connect to the large nipple at the back of the air cleaner lid. Right now that fitting is connected directly to the crankcase vent but the pipe doesn't look like it has a fitting to connect this nipple to the pipe. Does anyone have this same bike or a diagram that might show me how this pipe is supposed to be connected?
