Default 1986 Ninja 600 Clutch Question

I have a question, real simple. When you pull the clutch lever, the gear on the tranny should be free moving correct? For some reason, mine is not turning. It's like it is not engaging when I pull the lever.

It should move by hand yes, but maybe not as free moving as you may think. But, now that I do not have the manual in front of me, the 86 was a hydraulic clutch right? If so, check the cylinder for sticking, flush the fluid, etc. Welcome to KF and good luck

All I know is that it is a wet clutch. Like every bike I know of I think. The cable is pulling the lever on the clutch cover back, so it should be engaging the clutch. I have never done any kind of work on a bike before, but I think I have done very well. I do cars mostly, but I figured this would be similar. Bought it for 400 bucks with 7500 bucks done to it. It's been apart since 1995, and everything is in good working order. I'll post a video to see if this helps get my ? answered. I have several questions, but this is the most important to me as I do not want to tear it up after all my hard work.

clutch cable p/n: 54011-1228 I was mistaken about it being a hydraulic clutch.

All I know is that it is a wet clutch. Like every bike I know of I think.
Ducati likes to run a dry clutch.

I will have to check out your vid

In my H1 zx7 manual, the BL/R is the oil pressure switch that goes to the gauge light. Of course, this may not help in your question. Also, your questions were in part 3 in your link.

Ok, COOL!!!! I GOT IT!!!!! Thanks so much. I got a new clutch cable to make sure, and it is engaging now. The other cable was wore out and stretched. But the oil guage is correct. It has a nut that fits on that. Thanks so sooooo much man. I really appreciate that.
