you should not need a power commander with only a slip on. yes, it may lean out your bike a bit, but not enough to cause problems. however, it will only help to get a pc. and, if you ever get a k&n or a full exhaust, you'll need a pc.

I don't get it.

Everyone wants to put on a full exhaust or slip-on and even an K&N filter but nobody ever goes the whole 9 yards to correct the air fuel ratio.

I can't believe a shop would tell you that a PCIII is not needed when you add a slip-on. Humm, I guess eliminating the exhaust valve won't cause leaness LOL.

I guess you guys aren't into getting the most power out of your bikes.

Mike

Slip ons do not eliminate the exhaust valve and do not require pc or jetting if you have carbs.

Slip on and air filter yes.

Full system yes.

If you go full system though the gains are all on the top end and you lose bottom and mid range power. That is what the exhaust valve compensates for. It keeps the compression up so you still have lots of low and mid.

With out the exhaust valve you may take steps to improve the low mid by changing your gearing. I have -1 and +2 it diffidently fixes the low and mid power loss.

I am no expert with the 636 or 2bros but normally a slip on is just that, remove stock can and slip on new can. Maybe you got full system.
My exhaust valve was at the end of the header just after all the pipes formed into 1 single pipe. After tthat was a mid pipe and then the can.
I had a slip on before I whent to the full system.

the valve for the 05/06 636 is actually on a small section of pipe welded to the can. so if stock can comes off, it comes off

I was checking out the microfiche for the 05 / 636 and I see what you are saying.

056r raises a good point. Guess you would have to consult the pipe manufacture.
Would not trust the dealer to give you a real answer.

Thanks Gotrice

yes the valve comes off with the stock muffler, but the servo that works the valve stays and functions, thats why two bros as well as muzzy sell the servo stop to keep the fi light from coming on.

and if anyone has a fi light on and dont have the servo stop, muzzy sells it for 29 bucks and two bros sells it for 99 bucks. its the same freakin thing, i have compared the two side by side.
