Default '06 636 electrical questions

Ok, so I just got some LEDs in the mail to add to my bike. So I took off the lower and upper fairings and both seats so that I have as much access to the wiring components as possible. I noticed two intriguing things under the main seat... 1) a 4-wire plug not plugged into anything and taped to a wiring harness, 2) A random female-end red wire not plugged into anything. Does anyone know what these two things are for? Also, my goal is to wire the parking light system so it only runs the LEDs I'm installing, instead of my brake light. Anyone know the easiest place to access said parking wire (and what color it would be)? Thanks for any help.

sounds like you have a pretty cool project..... as far as the parking light wires go..... the easiest place to get that wire is behind the ignition switch..... i'm not too sure what the color is but get a meter to test the wire....

That 4 wire plug is a Self Diagnostic System Connector & the single (should be orange) is a Self Diagnostic Indicator Terminal. What exactly are you trying to do with the parking lights?; please explain.

Ok, so here's the breakdown. My initial plan was to wire up my LEDs so that the parking switch built into the ignition switch would be the device to turn them on. But I discovered that the way the bike was wired from the factory, it just would not be possible to do it that way. Instead, I took power directly from the battery, through an in-line fuse, up to a new switch placed to the left of my speedometer. The switch operated the two blue LEDs I installed in the front and back wheel-wells. I put everything back together and it all looks awesome... professional even, lol. I'll have to post some pictures up later. I also replaced the bolts holding my license plate on with bolts that had amber LEDs built into them. I then wired those to my turn-signal system so that they operate as extra turn signals. I'm hoping it might help to grab attention from motorists that tend to not pay much attention.

I will be posting some pics when I get home tonight. My next mod will be to place 1 amber LED inside the ram air and place 1 on the inside of each upper fairing facing the radiator. I soldered up a sound sensor to place under the rear seat which will power the amber LEDs. This will in-turn increase the intensity of the amber LEDs as the engine gets louder. So as I rev the engine, the inside of the fairings and the airbox will have a cool glow-effect to them. I'll let you know how it goes.
