ORIGINAL: MSR 05 6R

Thats good news I guess... I was going to do some LED lights in the corners of the headlight housing this winter when its to cold to ride. Ya, that does suck. Anyway, I was thinking about wiring them into my turnsignals though. Since there already there, my be not. If everything works out this winter, she should be a whole new bike for next season. Its going to be alot of work though...
Yeah, if you just get 2 standard relays and wire them into the turn signals, you can have them as running lights that blink off when the signal blinks on. Looks pretty cool I think.

You dont need any relays. Just wire them in. I'll try to post a write-up later when I get a chance.

Yes. one wire from each LED goes to the Power Brown wire with Silver Dots (in the harness bundle with about a dozen wires by the steering stem) and the other wire taps into each turn signal wire (green for the LH & grey for the RH). The lights will stay on and blink alternating when the turn signals are activated for each respective side.

Thanks Speed.

I have some more questions.
What is the best way to mount the lights them self?
Did you get just a LED and a gromet (similar to a standard car alarm LED) or something else.
I got a licence plate fastner at Autozone with a bright blue LED that shines out. Im not quite sure how i am going to mout it though.
Another kid in town has the same kit on his 636 and it looks good from the outside, but he said he just drilled a hole and JB welded the unit in place. I kind of wanted a cleaner install job than he did. what do you think?

You can use auto type corner marker bulb holders from an auto parts store and drill holes to make them fit. Just be careful when drilling the holes; don't let the drill bit pull thru or you may damage the headlight lens. Use a cardboard tube as a stop. AutoZone has the best LED bulbs for $10 a pair. They are 168/194 replacements.

Hey Speedracer, is the 05 636 wiring harness the same as the 06 you guys are talking about here? I have been reading through the threads on moding my headlights to the dual beam and have been looking for more info on the running lights. sorry if I missed a thread somewhere but I think I have checked most of them. As well is this the most detailed thread on the running lights or is here anotherone I should look at?

I can hardly wait to have the dual light mod done and if my bike is ready for it i want to put the running lights in as well.

I am up in Canada so shipping wiring harnesses back and forth may be more hassel than its worth so I will have my mechanic do the mods for me here i think...
