Default 05 zx-6r straight pipe

I have a muzzy slip on right now and I'm thinking of eliminating it and making my own straight pipe. Will I need to install a power commander or cause any problems if I do this?

hmm, I say do not do it. Unless you own your own dyno to tune the thing. Even then, I still say do not do it if you plan on any corner speed.

x2 you will kill your low end power & your ears will bleed, but its your bike but i have seen enough inside of peoples engines thats run straight pipes & you should see there valves over time

its because there is no back pressure right? Is there any way to run a straight pipe and re-create that back pressure? I know its so loud because there is nothing to break up the sound waves. I was about to cut my mid pipe today actually but im not going to do it if you guys advise against it.

The other issue that you have not concerned yourself with is the cam timing, stock cams with the stock ecu, etc. That is a can of worms and will cause you damage if not done correctly. So I am still saying do not go straight pipes since you have not done your homework just yet.

is there anywhere that i can read up on this. not trying to make you mad or anything just very interested. just trying to give myself another option or two as far as exhaust. would a power commander compensate for a stock ecu?

power commanders are a great thing but as i dont know you or your knowledge or ability please dont take this the wrong way but many people think that a power commander just plugs in and takes care of your problems but with the type of system your trying to do you will need a professional to dyno tune the power commander to your app
I myself run an area p no limits megaphone exhaust and have had to have extensive dyno time to tune it in as this exhaust is basicly a "straight pipe"

yes and no, because of the pulses in a megaphone setup. Goes back to the 60's and 70's. Area P knows their stuff and makes a good product.
