Cool 04 636 wont start

pulled into the parking lot and the bike died as i pulled the clutch in. rolled it back into the parking spot and tried to start it again and it wouldnt start. the FI light came on and it was trying to turn over but it wouldnt start. left it for an hour or so then tried to start it again and it wouldnt start. it turns over and tries to start but it wont and it has a very hard time shifting through the gears with the clutch in and when you try and start it the bike kind of jumps forward.

any ideas?

Welcome to KF.

I would be checking the neutral safety switch and the cable adjustment first. Not sure at this time just yet. Good luck.

i have no idea how to run the codes for my fi switch, is that something that can be done or is it hard? and checking the neutral saftey switch and the cables would take care of the shifting problem possibly but it doesnt take care of the problem of getting the bike started, any ideas there?

how do u run codes period?

how do you take the main seat off the bike to gain access to the battery?

put a key under the seat where a keyhole is and twist it then pull the seat off.

that and once you get the rear seat off its a 10mm bolt that holds the front seat on unloosen that and turn the lock and the front seat will then come off, battery is located right under that

the shifting hard could also be a bad clutch..... my 03 had 10,000miles on it and I had to replace mine. How many miles is on your bike? and have you done and wheelies clutching the **** out of it? haha might need a new setup in there my friend

the bike has 7200 miles on it and no i havent done wheelies on it yet. the clutch doesnt seem to have a problem but maybe thats it. the weird thing about it is when the clutch is in and you try and start the bike in jumps forward and then it tries to turn over for 10 sec and then turns off and restarts itself. and yes i do need to get a manual lol.
