Default 03 K1 vs 04 M1

Hey,

New to the site, so first of all thanks for reading. I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between the 03 k1 motor and the 04 m1 motor. I tried calling kawasaki directly but they wouldnt give me any details.

I know that the wiring harness is different, but does anyone know the difference mechanically. I have a tube frame car chassis that is based around the 03 k1 motor and would like to be able to have a second motor available. the local junkyard has an M1 at a good price, but I need to know if I can interchange parts, mostly intake and exhaust pieces that have been custom fabricated (are the manifold shapes and locations the same on both blocks), the heads, and the drive sprocket. Most importantly though, are the mounting points for both motors the same. The tube frame is designed around the motor and to use the M1 the mounting points would have to be identical otherwise it would screw up the geometry and statics of the car.

any feedback is helpful feedback. thanks for reading.

matt

I still am not sure since I have not taken the time to cross reference. Look in your parts fiche and start jotting down the part numbers. That will assist you learn to answer the question. Good luck
