On/Off fan switch mod.
Well, for you hot weather riders, the fan switch mod.
You will not have hazard lights with this modification, the hazard button will be your fan switch.
Remove left upper cockpit panel. Remove the two screws that connect the left handlebar control.
1. Cut the zip tie holding the cluster of wires that is "inside" of the left handlebar control, cut the Orange wire and the Green wire to the hazard switch button. I also cut the Gray wire, (not to be connected).
2. Run two wires through the shrink tubing, these two wires you slide through will connect to the Orange and Green wires, make sure you have enough wire at the other end of the shrink tubing so you can route to the proper connection, carefully soldier them together, and tape well. If you have heat shrink, slide it over the wires before soldering, and shrink after soldering. Shrink is better!
3. Replace the zip tie, make sure you mark one wire to the Orange, that will be the hotwire, the other will go to the fan connection plug.
4. Route the wire connected to the Green to the fan connection, I slid the Green wire into the Blue wire, it should fit tight, tape well. You can remove some insulation from the blue wire and solder the green to the blue for a somewhat better, and more permenent connection.
5. Locate the harness plug that is wide, its behind the left headlight area.
7. Run the Orange wire into the large White wire connector, make sure it fits tight, tape well, install your panels, your hazard button is now your on/off fan switch, if you see you are going to be stopped for a few minutes in traffic or a long redlight, simply press the hazard button and your fan starts cooling your engine without having to wait until the engine gets hot and comes on automatically, it will still work automatically if you forget to press your hazard button, the fan switch will work without the engine running, Drag Racers will enjoy this feature as well.
Now, you can keep your 14's *** cool!
