Default backfire

Hi all

I recently put a yosh S/O exhaust on my zx14 and noticed that it started backfiring when ever I decelerate, or downshift. I was riding with a friends yesterday and he said that he said see flames shoot out of the pipe. Is this normal? The thing sounds great and it did improve performance. I didn't remap, or add a new air filter.

Here is my theory.
Stock has probably 3 chambers in the can. With the overlap of cams combined with the timing of the ecu, the unburned fuel is ignited within the chambers or somewhere within the pipe. Less db and meets standards. Now that you have a straight cored can, the flame is not stopped. You can tune or follow your tuning by viewing the hot spots in your exhaust. Discoloration.

Zeta_xi_208,

Not to change the subject, but I was curious to know if you still have your stock pipes. If so, would you be willing to sell? Without getting into embarassing details, I need to replace my left pipe.I really like the look of the stock chromed, so I'm hesitant to buy aftermarket for now.

Let me know if you're interested. Thanks.

BTW... my ZX-6 back fires on downshifts, don't know if it's normal, but I love that sound. I've never had flames though. I agree with midplay, you should get the power commander either way. You'll increase your performance as well as have your bike run better. I'm sure you can download the map for the two bros from somewhere if not directly from the dynojet site.

my 14 is new with the 2 bro pipes and it has been backfiring since day one. my bike backfires mainly betwwen 2.5K-3K rpm. It is`nt fully broke in yet. I need a PC3 as well. The bike is running real lean. Just be careful if it runs lean it can run the motor hotter and burn a valve or piston.

With aftermarket pipes, it will probably always backfire at least a little!
