Default '06 ZX-10R Wheelie Crazy?

A friend recently dropped a '06 636 which, due to frame scratches, was totaled (a car switched lanesinto him atslow speed bumper to bumper and he was forced into it). Due to the styling and motor changes with the '07 6r he is wondering if it isn't a better time to go with a ZX-10R. Now he is kind of new to bikes but takes it up to 160 on a regular bases (yea, I am talking to him about slowing that down). In our area they have an OTD(out the door) shop that sells bikes for next to nothingwith all fees included. They have a few '06 ZX-10Rleft for only $8,900 OTD. Problem is, everyone he talks to tells him those 1000 have too much power and wheelie everywhere. I tell him that it'sjust adifferenttype of riding style needed. Ithink for the mostly highway driving he does he can have a lotmore fun on the 1000 than a 600. I figure the main difference between them is you can't just whack the throttle openwhenever you want on the 1000.Of course the real problem is there is no test rides onaZX-10R available (any offers in the San Jose to Santa Rosa area?). What do most of you guys here feel? Is the'06ZX-10Rstill just too quick to wheelie or was that justa '05 problem?

Dude, its all about throttle control. if YOU have control of the bike, it wont come up. i have a 07 10R and its flat out fast. I can pull it up, but Its when I want to. Dont get me wrong when you hit it, the front end will get light, but its more about you, then the bike. Tell your friend to be careful. that bike will hit 160 in 4th. VERY quickly

hmm as mentioned by GT, the thing as some get up &go.

Stock setup for me had the rear tire squirming at 140 in 4th. I set up my ride for me, now things are peacefull. Setup and the rider are important here on the 10r. Great ride, but needs some attention to detail.

I thought so. I don't know what those guys that are saying it's practicully uncontrollable are all about. They must have ridden a '05 and don't know the power wassmoothed outin '06 and newer.

It's all about the rider! No bike is too powerful to be controlled!

Almost sounds like your buddy needs to keep it to a smaller size bike so he doesn't kill himself. Well, even a 6R is more than enough to get into trouble.
