Default Okay first bike?

Hello everyone. If ya'll read my earlier posts I was looking at the Katana 600 as my first bike. However the owner raised the price up and it's the same price as a 650. So I'm wondering is the 650 a okay first bike? Thanks in advance. And also what would the insurance be (( I'll be 16 when I get it[] ))

insurance shouldn't be too bad i'd assume. what are you looking for in a bike? i don't think a 650 is too big or anything, my first bike is a 750, i guess it just depends on your maturity and how much respect you show for yourself and your bike.

take the MSF course, get all the proper gear, take it easy and get the feel for the machine, and BE SAFE.

Thank you Kawi!

All I want in a bike is something dependable and when I need power (( Going up a hill, etc )) I will have it. I'm not planning on going over 75 (( which would be on the highway )) unless if I take it to the track every now and then. And what would be a good insurance to go with? I'm not really use to all that. My car that I had back when I was 10 my parents paid for the insurance.

hahaha, back when you were 10 and the parents paying the insurance.....
Do the 650 and gear up as mentioned. Just know your limits. But along the same lines that you mentioned concerning the track, it is a great learning area.

That last is going to be a common sense area on your part. Example, if you are at this persons garage, parts everywhere and he works on all of his stuff. Yet while working on the 650 lets say and asks you if this dowel is needed as he holds it up to you. hmm, prolly not a good choice.

Get a Ninja 250 or 500 if your only 16 the insurerance will be cheaper. Im 24 and it's my 1st year with a MC licence and I pay $236 a year on a 04 Ninja 250, liability only. If your only going to go 75mph the 250 is all you need, trust me when you start riding you will go over 75mph. I hit 100mph on my 250 a few times already and I never thought I would go that fast.

Could someone give me a ideal price of what insurance would be? Because I would really like a 650 but if I can't afford the insurance I will have to get a 250 / 500 . (( Not saying their bad bikes, I like them. But perfer the 650 ))
