What's causing my head (handlebar) shake?
I just got some brand new tires on my '02 500r (Only has 5000 miles on her) and the other day just random I let go of the handlebars while cruising at around 45-50mph. I remember when I first got it that was fine, it would keep going straight as if I was still holding on.
This time, it started shaking, small at first, but growing with each shake so it scared me after about 2-3 seconds. AW CRAP!!! I did take the front and rear wheels off myself and took them in for new tires / balancing. I'm pretty competent with taking things apart and I'm sure I didn't do anything stupid like leave a part out, although I didn't have a manual or anything so I just put everything back on the way it came off and made sure things were "tight" Any ideas on what is causing this head shake? If I hold on to the handlebars there's no discernable shake, but if I let go for a second or 2 it really starts shaking bad. |
RE: What's causing my head (handlebar) shake?
Wheels could not be balanced right. Tire could be out of round. I had a new one like that once. Take it back to the shop and have them check.

To add some more info about this, it only seems to happen at speeds between 30mph - 45 mph... get it 50+ and the handlebars don't do it... so weird...

i'm sure it's out of balance then if it's only doing it at certian speeds.
