Ninja 500 problem

Default Ninja 500 problem

I just got this bike. it is my first. i bought it threw my dealer ship cause someone wanted to trade it in on a car. i got this 2006 ninja 500 with 280miles for 2000. i have 600 on it now and while i been riding it is back firing. i am wondering why.....

Could be running too lean, or it could need a timing tweek. It could ALSO be the gas, if you haven't run that much through it and it's been sitting. (Like, before it came to the dealer?) The easiest place to start would be to drain the tank, replace with fresh gas. Run it awhile, then check your plugs to see what colordeposit you have on the electrode. Yeah; getting to all that stuff can be a pain.The joys of ownership!

87 octane...ok i will try that.

try running the higher octane gas..

Well i put in some octane booster and the heet stuff to make sure there was no water in the tank.

use 90+ octane dont put booster in it

Yeah i am almost postive is it running lean. i was riding today with the choke on and as soon as i turn the choke off. it wanted to shut off.

running only on choke sounds like your pilot jets are clogged.
