Newbie with dead bike

I have an '04 Ninja 500. I accidentally left the key on after hitting the kill switch and drained the battery. I tried charging the battery and the bike still wouldnt turn over at all - zero. Battery did test bad so I got a brand new battery and unfortunately got the same result - bike does nothing. New battery tests fine - so doesnt appear to be a lemon battery. Any advice on what else to check? THANKS!!!!

Fuses?

Welcome Nab. I'm assuming the bike was running before. Kill switch in the "run" position? Double-check your wiring, and as mentioned^ check fuses. Sometimes the key switches can get "wiggly," too; not make good contact.
Keep at it, let us know.
Welcome, again.

Ya, I hate taking the bike apart to check fuses and find I have the kill switch in!

As mentioned above....double check your battery connections, make sure that your kill switch is in the proper location. Welcome to KF and congrats on the lil ninja. I enjoy riding an 05 model most of the time. lol

Thanks for the pointers. I had replaced the main 30 amp fuse; however, when I went back through everything, I replaced it again and all is good. Apparently, the first fuse I put in was bad - it didnt show as blown...but sure didnt work. Other than buying a battery that may not have been necessary yet, all is good. THANKS again.

Welcome to the forums. That's exactly why I have never used the kill switch on any of my bikes. Glad you got it figured out. ;)
