new bike
I just perchased a 500r, and wanted to know what to look for in/on the bike to see if it was a good buy, i got it for $1,600. he was asking 2,500. the bike has 10,000 miles on it, and runs great, starts right up.
Welcome to KF
Flush the oil system, coolant system, brake system..... I have not had any issues really on my 500 yet, but rumor has it that the oiling system is not the best setup. Set up the suspension as best as you can, they ride really soft.

S' up, supe!!? Glad to have you with us. Post up a pic or three of your new friend. Sounds like you just got a great deal on a great commuter bike! Seriously, gas at $4/gal? Hey, I'm on the bike as much as possible, unless I'm haulin' stuff.
Wear your gear; get out and ride, and stay safe.

Wow, that must be a REALLY fast 500!! The Kawasaki labels are reversed!!
Like I said before, looks like an excellent commuter bike to me. The 500 fills that role perfectly; a great bike to get your chops on and just RIDE. It won't smoke any Gixxers or ZX10's, so don't kid yourself. The 500 is a "saddle time" bike. If maintained (also good to learn basic maintenance chops) that engine will run forever. Thx for the pics!
