Default RE: Need pointers on removing rear tire

The outer brake pad was out of alignment and not compressing onto the disk. It's fixed now. My rear wheel is back on the bike, in only 5 hours. Thanks again for the help! At least it is ready to ride tomorrow.

Take it easy on that new tire until it has been scrubbed in. New tires are slicker than owl-$hit. I paid the tuition for this lesson, so you might as well get the benefit of the lesson:

Peace!

Default What about the front tire

what about changing the front tire. Will you need a bike stand when the front wheels come off or can the bike stand on itself on the forks?

I was wondering that too. When comes time for front wheel, how to you keep the front end off the ground? I thought about hanging my weight set off the back...

I like to use something heavy (like my junky, non-motorcycle toolbox) and a tie-down to weigh-down the rear of the bike while it's on the centerstand.
In addition to that, you might as well lodge something up under the oilpan, just in case.

Be sure to loosen all the axle binder bolts and axle bolts before you prop up the bike. It's kind of a PITA. I bought some large, fitting allen wrenches and a long section of pipe to loosen them.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Peace!

Default Snow proof tire?

Yo chris,
Had a bobo on my bike today on I-95. Some guy droped a sheet of glass from his truck and left the south lanes with an unatural snowy looking substance on the rode.Didn't have much options but slowing back down to the speed limit. Destroyed my 130/70-17. Just proves yet again that when you thinks its snowing in florida someone or something is f###### up.

you being the foremost athority of kawasaki in the western hemisphere ,and all. Whats your prefrence on the 500rs' sport touring tires.

thanks
