I'm planning to order the tailbag. I just had one more question. I'm tall (6'4) I often find myself scooting back a little onto the rear seat especially on a longer trip when I need to give my body a break. Is there any leeway to do that with the tailbag on?

 

I have the 91 EX500 adn the Red set of Tourmaster Cortech bags. I never had a problem with them being too close to the exhaust, so I wuld cast my vote for those. I haven't tried the saddle bags on the new 650, but I will soon. I use the tail bag almost daily and it works wonderfully...nice and big. Today I have my purse, and an extra pair shoes in it and still haveroom for stuff.

 

well i just got an email from the place i tried to order those tourmaster courtech tail bag that ya got chris and they are indefinitly on back order....and others that work basically as good for a tail bag..or tail/saddle bag combo for a ex500?

Glad you found them. I just thought of another terrific advantage to these bags. If you are involved in a crash, these bags will be a LOT more forgiving if they come into contact with your body than say, bags like these:

I've got a bungee net as well and while that has it's uses, I get way more use out of this tailbag. As far as the tailbag being secure enough, in addition to the built in bungees, it also has a neoprene pad on the bottom to keep it from sliding which does a good job, unless you kick it as you're getting on, haha, but it's not so stuck on you can't shift it further back, or forward to accomodate your position on the seat. If it's full enough you can use it as a back rest at stop lights.

Once you get yours, iroc, you'll wonder what you did without it. I know I do. Wow, I sound like an infomercial pitchman. That's sad. Let us know how you like it.
